Get ready for the bigger-and-better La Tierra Torture

Now with Short Track!

The skinny on Santa Fe’s funnest fat-tire event: The fourth annual La Tierra Torture is coming soon and promises more mountain bike racing action than ever. The 2009 edition will feature a brand-new short-track event on Saturday, May 2, in addition to the popular cross-country race on Sunday, May 3, for a completely torturous weekend. More than 250 racers came out for the 2008 race to test their mettle on La Tierra’s smokin’-fast singletrack ... come see what all the excitement is about!

In the past three years, La Tierra Torture has raised more than $10,000 for local charities!

Thanks to our generous sponsors, the first 100 racers to register for both events will receive a free custom event jersey. Last year’s jerseys were spoken for within weeks, so don’t wait to register!

Registration opens March 4th.

The first 100 people to sign up for both the short track and cross country races will get a jersey

Location: La Tierra Trails in the City of Santa Fe’s Northwest Quadrant. It’s close to town and has easy access from the Route 599 Bypass via Camino de los Montoyas. See our area map / venue location.

Short Track (NMORS #5): Approximately two-mile laps, as adrenaline-inducing as a criterium — and as spectator-friendly as roller derby! If you’ve never tried STXC, this is your chance to give it a whirl. It’s a perfect warm-up for Sunday’s cross-country race. Race durations are 20 minutes for Cat 3, 25 minutes for Cat 2 and 30 minutes for Pro/Cat 1.

Cross-Country (NMORS #6): Approximately nine-mile lap(s) on a mix of rolling, technical, rocky, fast and fun singletrack and double track — and a giant roller coaster of an arroyo crossing! Tire sealant recommended. Cat 3 will do one lap, Cat 2 and Single Speed will do two laps and Pro/Cat 1 will do three laps.

New for this year — if you preregister but cannot participate, a portion of your entry fee can be applied to the 2010 event.
